Investing in Paraguay from abroad: why and how to start

Rootgold Realty · Updated 03/08/2026

More and more investors from Argentina, Brazil and Spain look to Paraguay to protect and grow their capital. Why has the small neighbour become the region's favourite place to invest? Here is the answer, with official data (REDIEX, 2025).

The tax gap

It is the strongest argument. Paraguay runs the 10-10-10 scheme (VAT, corporate and personal income tax at 10%). Compare: in Argentina corporate tax is around 35% and VAT 21%; across much of the region the total tax burden tops 60%. What goes to taxes elsewhere stays in your return here.

A dollar safe haven

Paraguayan real estate trades in dollars. For anyone coming from a volatile local currency, that means protecting value against inflation and FX swings, in a tangible asset. An off-plan apartment starts at USD 38,900, with direct instalments and no bank.

Stability and investment grade

In 2024, Moody's gave Paraguay investment grade (Baa3). Low inflation, fiscal discipline and predictability — the opposite of the roller coaster many regional investors are used to. See why invest in Paraguay.

Close and open

Paraguay is part of MERCOSUR, and its process to invest and even obtain residency is among the most open in the region.
