How to open a company in Paraguay as a foreigner: SUACE and company types
Opening a company in Paraguay is simpler than many foreign investors expect, thanks to SUACE — the state's one-stop shop. Here is how it works, per the official Investment Guide (REDIEX, 2025).
What SUACE is
SUACE (the one-stop company registration system) is a digital platform that centralises every step to set up a company: registration, social security, labour ministry, bank account and even the foreign investor's residency. You can handle it yourself, without hiring an agent.
Company types
- S.A. (Corporation): minimum 2 partners; share capital; a more solid image, ideal for larger projects. Partners are not personally liable for company debts.
- S.R.L. (Limited Liability): 2 to 25 partners; the most used; liability limited to the capital contributed; flexible management.
- E.A.S. (Simplified Joint-Stock Company): opened 100% online through SUACE, with online bank account setup. The fastest option.
In every case, partners can be individuals or legal entities, local or foreign.
The foreigner: with or without residency
- With permanent residency: you can open a company without a Paraguayan partner and act as legal representative, with full powers.
- Without residency: you can be a shareholder, but the legal representative must be a Paraguayan citizen or a foreigner with permanent residency. That is why many investors first obtain their investor residency.
Do I need a company to invest in an apartment?
No. Buying an apartment in Paraguay does not require setting up a company: you can invest as an individual. A company only matters if you seek investor residency or will run a business. For pure real estate, the path is far more direct.
